Nine deaths and 525 new Covid infections in the Atlantic

The coronavirus pandemic left 11,639 new infections in Colombia on Wednesday and 289 deaths, the highest number of deaths in almost three months since there were 296 on September 2, according to the Ministry of Health.

The increase in deaths in Bogotá also stands out, which today had 70, 18 more than on Tuesday.

With the new figures, Colombia accumulates 1,626,461 infections and 42,909 deaths due to the pandemic.

Of the total positives reported since the pandemic began, 82,052 remain active, which is equivalent to 5.04% of the total, while 1,497,180 patients have been registered as recovered, that is, 90.2%.

The highest number of infections today was registered in Bogotá, which had 4,957, followed by the departments of Antioquia (1,700), Valle del Cauca (1,067), Atlántico (525), Cundinamarca (396) and Norte de Santander (352).

Santander (333), Bolívar (291), Tolima (261), Nariño (243), Caldas (219), Boyacá (208), Risaralda (199), Huila (170) and Cauca (135) also had high figures.

The regions that accumulate the most infections continue to be Bogotá (464,910), Antioquia (259,550), Valle del Cauca (136,522), Atlántico (92,981), Santander (66,566) and Cundinamarca (66,254).

According to the Ministry of Health, of the 289 deaths registered this Wednesday, 250 occurred in previous days.

The deaths occurred in Bogotá (70), Valle del Cauca (42), Antioquia (37), Norte de Santander (18), Bolívar (13), Cundinamarca (12), Santander (10), and Atlántico, Quindío and Tolima ( 9).

There were also deaths in Boyacá, Magdalena, Caldas and Risaralda (7); Meta and Nariño (5); Cesar and Huila (4), and Arauca, Casanare, Cauca, Córdoba and Putumayo (2). The rest of deaths were in Caquetá, Guaviare, San Andrés and Sucre (1)

Today 68,313 samples were processed, 35,120 of them PCR and 33,193 antigens, for a total of 8.05 million.
