The most recent report from the National Institute of Health (INS) reported 611 new coronavirus infections in the Atlantic, of which 495 correspond to Barranquilla and 116 to the rest of the department.

Regarding those who died from this pathology, the INS registered seven in Barranquilla and two in Soledad.

The mayor of Barranquilla, Jaime Pumarejo, made a call to self-care and stay at home as there is a “second rise in infections after a fairly steep valley.”

He assured that medicines are not in short supply in the city and that they have the highest proportion of beds per inhabitant in Colombia, more than 5 beds per 10,000 inhabitants, surpassing the United States.

“We have the capacity to serve people, but the call is that although we are not going to have a generalized public health crisis in Barranquilla due to this second slight increase in contacts compared to the first, life may be lost. The important thing is that we take care of ourselves, ”he said.

The INS reported that in the rest of the country there were 11,528 new cases of Covid-19, and 270 deaths.

In total, 30,897 tests were processed, 20,419 by PCR and 10,478 by antigens.
