Prosecutor’s Office announces sentence for the man who attacked Canela, his own family’s pet.
After endorsing the preliminary agreement between the Prosecutor’s Office and the defendant, the First Promiscuous Municipal Court of Ipiales (Nariño) sentenced to seven months in prison and the payment of a fine of 2.5 minimum legal monthly wages in force to Carlos William Obando Estacio, as responsible for crime of animal abuse.
Obando received said sentence for the assault with a knife against his own family’s companion animal, a French Poodle dog named Canela.
The investigation, carried out by the Nariño Sectional Prosecutor’s Office, established that the mistreatment occurred due to intolerance of the man after the consumption of liquor, on June 6 on Las Lajas Avenue in that town.
Fortunately, Canela received timely care from the veterinarian attached to the Secretary of Environmental Sanitation of the city of Ipiales and is currently in perfect condition with its owner.

It should be noted that, by determination of the judge, the sentenced person was granted the criminal surrogate of the conditional suspension of the sentence for a probationary period of two years, after signing the act of obligations contained in article 65 of the Criminal Code asn: observe good conduct, repair the damage caused by the crime and not leave the country without prior authorization from the competent official.
