This was indicated by the study “Fertility, mortality, migration and population scenarios for 195 countries and territories, from 2017 to 2100”, published by The Lancet.

According to this study, the world’s population will experience accelerated aging, except in Africa.

As for South America, the study indicated when the maximum population peak will be in each country.

Apparently, our country will reach its population peak in 2052; however, by 2100 it will have almost the same population as it is now.

What the study says is that by 2052 there will be 61.49 million inhabitants in Colombia.

It will only be surpassed by Brazil, which will reach its peak in 2043 with 235.49 million people.

But then Colombia will suffer a population decline and will be overtaken by Mexico.

This country would have 170.71 million inhabitants in 2062.
