Wílder Daniel Marín, member of the Farc party and signatory of the peace agreement with the Colombian Government, was assassinated by unknown persons in the municipality of Bello, which is part of the Medellín metropolitan area, denounced this Friday the political movement that emerged from the demobilization of the warfare.

“His body, wrapped in a burning mattress, was found in the Cabañas neighborhood, in the municipality of Bello,” said the Common Alternative Revolutionary Force (FARC) in a statement in which he specified that Marín was reincorporating in Medellín, capital of the department of Antioquia (northwest).

The political movement detailed that the ex-guerrilla was pursuing technical studies as an accounting assistant in the National Apprenticeship Service (Sena) and was reincorporating as an associate of the Cooperativa Multiactiva Tejiendo Paz (Cootepaz).

“Daniel is the third signatory of the Havana peace agreement assassinated in the Valle de Aburrá Metropolitan Area (Medellín), number 27 in Antioquia and 196 in the entire country,” the information added.

The Farc party asked for “prompt responses” to the authorities and “a real commitment to the implementation” of the peace agreement that the Government signed with the FARC guerrillas in November 2016.

“In the framework of the pandemic and the emergency it has generated, the murders against the social leaders and the reinstated FARC do not stop and we will not tire of repeating that Peace cannot continue to cost us our lives,” added the party.

The Institute of Studies for Development and Peace (Indepaz) reported on Thursday that this year 95 social leaders or human rights defenders and 24 demobilized from the Farc have been assassinated, in addition to seven relatives of social leaders and one of their escorts.

Likewise, the assassination of social leaders in Colombia does not stop despite the fact that the country has been in mandatory quarantine since March 25 and that the guerrilla National Liberation Army (ELN) declared a unilateral ceasefire for 30 days in April.
