New masks would be contaminated with animal feces

The Attorney General’s Office alludes, in a statement, to the fact that this association’s complaint indicates that They are “some batches of masks” imported from Asia, and others of national manufacture, which could be contaminated with bacteria.

It was because of this finding that the Public Ministry sent a letter to the director of Invima, Julio César Aldana, in which he warned that these elements of protection against the coronavirus are already circulating in Colombia.

This, he said, despite the fact that these batches of masks “could have the presence of 43 different bacteria, fungi and animal feces, which are harmful to health.”

The Attorney General’s Office asked Invima “to urgently” inspect and carry out sanitary control of the establishments where masks are manufactured in the country, as well as the companies that import them and those that are in charge of distributing them.

The control body said, in the communication, that in addition to the “bad practices” that have been discovered both in the importation and in the distribution, there is also an “alleged lack of vigilance” by the competent authorities, which “could trigger the spread of other diseases” and not protect people from the spread of COVID-19.

Face masks that left the market due to design errors

Although Invima has not commented on this delicate situation, it should be mentioned that last August it gave the order to withdraw the KN95 mask from the market, specifically from lot 2020013 of the Chinese company Putian Zhongjin Shoes Co Ltd, considering that for a Design error could lead to breathing difficulties for the person.

“The collapse could generate a feeling of suffocation and / or difficulty when breathing, therefore, the product cannot be used”, Invima reported, in a bulletin, and clarified that this design problem was not in all KN95 masks but in that specific batch, as seen in this image.
