The Colombian cyclist Nelson Soto (Colombia Tierra de Atletas) has won the third stage of the 70th edition of the Vuelta a Colombia, a 144.6 kilometer day held this Sunday starting in Sutatenza and arriving in Guasca, in the nearby of Bogot.
With a time of 3 hours, 39 minutes and 4 seconds, Soto prevailed in the arrival at Guasca, where he beat Fabio Duarte (Medelln) and Robinson Chalapud (Medelln) by 3 seconds, second and third respectively.
The former Caja Rural-Seguros RGA runner managed to escape in the final meters with Chalapud and in the end he brought out his virtues as a sprinter to cross the finish line first.
The 44-year-old Spanish scar Sevilla, winner of the Tour of Colombia in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and third last year, entered the finish line 3 seconds behind the winner and is 15 behind the leader, in fourth place in the general classification. .
On arrival the guest of honor was Egan Bernal (Team Ineos), 2019 Tour de France champion, who wished the riders the best of luck in the remaining six days of competition.
Also Colombian Alexander Gil (EPM-Scott), who donned the leader’s jersey after achieving victory in the second stage, remained at the head of the individual general classification of the Colombian round after finishing fourth in the stage.
Gil leads the table with 2 and 13 seconds of income over Juan Pablo Surez (Medelln) and Diego Camargo (Colombia Tierra de Atletas).
