The French cyclist Nans Peters (AG2R-La Mondiale) has won the eighth stage of the 107th edition of the Tour de France, a day of mountainous profile and 141 kilometers held this Saturday in the Pyrenees, linking the French towns of Cazres-sur -Garonne and Loudenvielle.
With a time of 4 hours, 2 minutes and 12 seconds, Peters won alone in the arrival at Loudenvielle ahead of Latvian Toms Skujins (Trek-Segafredo) and Spaniard Carlos Verona (Movistar), second and third respectively.
The winner of the stage came out of the good break of the day, an adventure that was formed with a select group of runners and that came to have almost 14 minutes of rent on the peloton.
There was a battle ahead but also behind, in the group of favorites, where the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates) moved first and the Colombian Nairo Quintana (Arka-Samic) later, taking the Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo- Visma).
The British Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott), who donned the leader’s jersey after the fifth stage, managed to maintain the lead after ending up neutralizing the attacks of his most direct rivals.
The Tour de France will continue this Sunday with the dispute of its ninth stage, of 153 kilometers between Pau and Laruns, again with a mountainous profile, with a port of 4, two of 3 and two of 1 category.
More information coming soon.
