Atlético Nacional experienced two historic moments this week, after it played its 3,900th official match at the Alfonso López de Bucaramanga stadium on Tuesday, October 6. The meeting this Saturday, October 10, against Junior at the Atanasio, will be the official match number 2,000 that they will play in the colossus of career 74.
The first official game that Nacional played at the Atanasio Girardot stadium was on April 26, 1953, in which the purslane team equaled 2-2 with Millonarios. 67 years, five months and two weeks passed between that meeting and this one against the Barranquilla team.
So far and for decades, Atlético Nacional has played 134 matches between 1953 and 1960, 266 matches from 1961 to 1970, 312 matches from 1971 to 1980, 311 matches from 1981 to 1990, 344 matches from 1991 to 2000, and from 2001 to 2010 303 games and from 2011 to 2020 330 games (including this Saturday).
Apart from Independiente Medellín, Deportivo Pereira, América de Cali, Envigado Fútbol Club and Águilas Doradas, they have been local in Atanasio against Nacional. An ‘intruder’ in your own home. Of these eight games, Nacional won five and lost three.

So far, Atlético Nacional has scored 3,463 goals in its 1,999 games at the Atanasio Girardot stadium (1,558 in the first half and 1,905 in the second half) and converted 1,996 (875 in the first half and 1,121 in the second half).
At Atanasio, Nacional has won 13 of its 16 leagues, the 2000 Merconorte Cup, the 2012, 2016 Superleagues, the 2012, 2013, 2018 Colombia Cups, the 2016 Copa Libertadores and the 2017 Recopa Suramericana.
