National Athletic announced on the afternoon of Sunday, November 1, the departure of Juan Carlos Osorio from the team’s technical direction despite being in the group of eight, but the poor results in the last matches and the regular sports performance motivated the managers to make the decision.

After Osorio’s departure, rumors began to spread of the names of strategists who could assume the position and one of them is the 60-year-old from Antioquia Luis Fernando Suárez.

Precisely the former coach of the Ecuador and Honduras teams entered the candidate pool due to the past he has as a player and coach in Atlético Nacional, which he commanded between 1999 to 2000 and in 2009.

Despite the rumors, Suárez, in dialogue with Los Dueños del Fútbol on RCN Radio’s Antena 2, clarified the situation and ruled out that he had been contacted to be the coach of the ‘purslane’ team.

“The National thing is more a rumor, it is because I do not have a job and a coach has just left; if there is a coach, his name will be given as a possibility, but it is a rumor,” he said.
