Last week the country learned of the crime of María Ángel Molina, who had been kidnapped along with her sister, by Juan Carlos Galvis in the municipality of Aguadas (Caldas). A few hours after the news of the girl’s kidnapping was known, the Police found Galvis along with the 18-month-old girl in the municipality of Abejorral (Antioquia).

From that moment on, Galvis was captured, who began to divert the search for the other minor. Finally the interrogators of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Police managed to get the subject to collaborate. On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, the body of María Ángel Molina was found in the Arma River in the municipality of Aguadas.

According to the Secretary of Government of Caldas, Jhon Jairo Castaño Flores, the minor died of violent causes and not for the reasons that Galvis had explained at the beginning, when he said that he was transporting the two girls along the river bank and saw that the 18-month-old was going to fall, so she had to release María Ángel.

At the moment, it has not been possible to determine if the minor suffered sexual violence by the murderer, since the state of decomposition of the body is very high, which indicates to the authorities that María Ángel had been dead for at least two days when she was found on the shore of the Arma river in Aguadas.

Within the investigations carried out by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Police, and the man’s accounts, it was affirmed that these events were done as revenge, when Galvis realized that the mother of the two girls was in a relationship with another man.

“We hope that this will happen, at least, in a month. We are waiting for the conviction and sentence to be of significant value, that it be a demonstrative act so that these events do not happen again in Caldas or in Colombia ”, said Castaño, Secretary of Government of the department, regarding what that remains of the legal process.
