After more than 10 hours of agony after being injured in a bullet attack that occurred on Friday at 55C Street with Carrera 4A, La Sierrita neighborhood, south of Barranquilla, a 10-year-old boy did not resist the damage to his body and died. Now the police announced that they will do everything possible, even pay money, to identify the person responsible.
“The National Police is offering a reward of up to 10 million pesos to anyone who provides information that leads us to the capture of the perpetrators of this event,” said General Ricardo Alarcón, commander of the Metropolitan Police of Barranquilla.
The high official also gave details of the investigations that the Judicial Police are carrying out to clarify this attack. Likewise, he assured that the boy’s father had been given 24 hours to pay for the extortion.
“It is a case that occurred yesterday (Friday) in the La Sierrita neighborhood. A case that is related to extortion issues. The father of the minor had been extorted by a gang dedicated to this crime and as a result of this situation they try to intimidate him into canceling the money they were asking for and which, as far as we know, is a sum close to five million pesos ”, added the officer.
EL HERALDO learned that one of the investigative lines carried out by the Judicial Police is the alleged link of a member of the minor’s family with the informal chance business. In addition, those responsible for the event would be members of the ‘Los Costeños’ band.
As it has done since 2013, this gang targets merchants and those who engage in informal or illegal activities from whom they require payment of certain amounts of money in exchange for allowing them to continue their business.
In this case, the criminals would be after the money produced by the informal chance that, apparently, was handled in that area of the city by a relative of the child, according to what was unofficially revealed by those in charge of the case.
