Two young people who were trying to escape from a police checkpoint in the Argentine city of Lanús, apparently because they did not have permission to circulate, ran over and killed an agent.

The deceased police, identified as Julia Valles, was 31 years old and the mother of a little girl of just 3. At the time of the unfortunate incident, she was with other colleagues who, although they tried to help her and requested prompt medical attention, could not do anything to save her life.

For their part, the young people who were on board the motorcycle, who were 28 and 23 years old, suffered minor injuries and were arrested.

“She was murdered in the line of duty, she was a brave young woman, with a young daughter and a whole life ahead of her,” said the municipality’s security officer, Diego Kravetz.

Just a week ago the control base where the officer was run over had been inaugurated in order to control vehicles, since the main crime in the area is robbery by motorcycle thieves.
