The National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) revealed that 62.9% of Commerce, Manufacturing, Services and Construction companies operated normally in July, while 31.3% did so partially and 5.8% posted a temporary shutdown.
During July, 61.0% of the companies in the four sectors presented a decrease in cash flow. 32.6% of these companies registered a reduction in workers or hours worked, and 26.5% had difficulties in accessing financial services. 20.6% said they had problems in the supply of inputs.
“63.4% of the companies in the four sectors registered in July 2020 a decrease in the demand for their products or services. At the same time, 18.8% affirmed that said demand did not present any change, while 17.8% experienced an increase in it ”, adds Dane.
The entity also revealed that for August 2020, the Business Confidence Indicator (ICE) for companies in the Commerce, Manufacturing, Services and Construction sectors was 44.6% compared to 41.0% registered in July.
By sectors, the highest value for the ICE in August 2020 was presented in Commerce (45.9%), followed by Manufacturing (45.5%), Construction (44.4%) and Services (42.6 %). However, 43.4% of companies expect an improvement in their income in the next three months.
