At the sports center in the Lourdes neighborhood, southeast of Santiago de Cali, the authorities surprised more than 450 people who were enjoying a sunny Sunday, regardless of the contagion of COVID-19 coronavirus or the high occupancy of ICU beds registered by the municipality.
Unfortunately, citizens were not complying with all the biosecurity measures. Some even know They were furious when they were taken out of the establishment.
Jimmy Dranguet, Undersecretary of Inspection, Surveillance and Control of the Cali Security Secretariat, spoke about the intervention that was carried out inside the sports center.
“We found more than 450 people crowded together, making use of the pools, not complying with all biosafety protocols, there was no use of masks, distancing or control. This space was closed until further notice. We cannot act irresponsibly, ”said the Cali Mayor’s Office official.
In addition, Dranguet made reference to the sanctions that were imposed in the recreation establishment.
“A subpoena will be imposed on the person who manages the space and we will impose drastic sanctions. We see here the lack of civic culture and care. Self-regulation is the only way out against the coronavirus, ”said the undersecretary.

“The people made a riot, they damaged the cars of the mayor’s office, they attacked officials and property. No subpoenas could be imposed on each of those present, “the spokesperson concluded.
