The legal situation in which former President Álvaro Uribe Vélez is living gives a lot to talk about, let there be no doubt about that, my friend. Beyond the media campaign that the defense of this powerful politician has been carrying out tooth and nail – apparently buying the opinion of journalists, hiring publicists in the United States to clear his name, and demanding that recognized media not interview the victim of all this procedural fraud, Senator Cepeda–, no one can deny that they are really advocating for a culprit or for a dead person they are trying to revive. And that he also makes an appearance before the speech of a man who, although he is telling the truth, at some point during his accusation wanted to retract out of simple interest.
From my perspective, Juan Guillermo Monsalve, a feared paramilitary who they want to pose as a low-ranking bandit, is not lying when he says that the Metro Block operated at Hacienda Guacharacas: people have known Uribe’s criminal past for a long time. However, he would have realized that his thing was to get out of jail and enjoy the life that other paramilitaries live without having paid a day’s sentence. And although he has told the media that he never sought to retract, the audios are clear and show that he did try to modify his version, accepting the review of his case with the mediation of Uribe. The way I see it, if he wanted to change his mind, it was not because he was a liar, but simply because his desire for freedom was probably stronger than anything else. Now, why didn’t he end up accepting what Uribe’s lawyer proposed to him? I would say, because he realized that they were not going to help him as he expected. That is the question: Monsalve would have been disappointed.
That is why you should not believe Vicky when she tries to make public opinion believe that Monsalve is a liar, and it is far from prudent to participate in the smear campaign promoted by Uribe’s defense, because the truth is really being hidden and they don’t want to Let it be known that Diego Cadena would have tried to fabricate a case to screw Senator Cepeda. All this is nothing more than a struggle of interests, where it is evident that the sidewalk is changed according to the need. It is not entirely true what Deyanira Gómez, Monsalve’s ex-wife, says when she states that he never sought to rectify himself, knowing that she was ordered to file a document in the Supreme Court of Justice denying Uribe’s criminal past. In my opinion, from his approach to Cadena, at the request of his ex-partner, comes all the montage that Granados and Lombana would have wanted to impose, especially when it is inferred that everything they say is nothing more than a rather stale stew.
I insist, Monsalve does not lie, he has never lied. You know what really happened with the participation of the paramilitary groups in Antioquia. If at some point he sought to accept Uribe’s help, it was simply because he wanted to get out of the hole he is in today, although better guarded and fed. All this judicial mess may not reach anything serious, but what is true is that in this country people go to anything in order to harm those who have the least, because that is how power is: it is made known even if one goes to the most base things.
