Ministry of Health of Colombia socialized the Vaccination Plan that will begin in February

The Ministry of Health of Colombia began this Saturday, January 2, the socialization of the National Vaccination Plan with the local and departmental authorities of different regions of the country for the implementation of immunization against covid-19 from next February.

In three sessions organized by the Health portfolio that had the participation of 1089 officials among governors, mayors, health secretaries, representatives of different unions and other authorities the guidelines were socialized for the plan that seeks to shelter 34 million Colombians in the first phase.

“We need to vaccinate 120 thousand people daily at the highest point”said the head of the portfolio, Fernando Ruiz Gómez, regarding the intention to meet this goal of vaccination of more than half of Colombians in the first phase.

The minister pointed out that it is important to have all the necessary logistics and elements, as well as to learn from the methods and successes of other countries.

“This includes the process, scheduling, logistics, application and administration of the vaccine”, explained the head of portfolio, Fernando Ruiz Gómez in the first meeting of several that he will hold with the authorities.

The main objectives of the first phase of vaccination include reducing the incidence of severe cases, reducing mortality from coronavirus, and protecting healthcare workers, one of the sectors most exposed and affected by the virus.

The minister assured that the components of the plan will have to be updated, being clear that the vaccination process is complex, the logistical challenges, clear priorities, and identifying the different challenges that the regions have for its optimal application.

For its part, phase two is intended to reduce contagion.

“Then the nominal bases of the prioritized population by groups and vaccination stages, identify in each territory the IPS enabled with vaccination and emergency services that have the possibility of expanding the service for vaccination against covid-19”explained the portfolio manager.

These vaccination processes must include the completion, the signing of the informed consent, the explanation of the procedure, the delivery of the card, the registration and the observation of the IPS to have a safe vaccination procedure.

“The IPS makes the scheduling of the vaccination appointment and informs the EAPB and the latter updates the population’s nominal database and uploads it to the Mi Vacuna platform. Finally the user consults the individual information there “, Minister Ruiz Gómez concluded.
