Congressman Wilmer Leal Pérez, also from the Green party, indicated that political control over press freedom in Colombia was scheduled for several weeks ago, but was postponed for the Government to address the emergency in San Andrés and Providencia caused by the passage of the Hurricane Iota, which left hundreds of victims. Even so, the ministers did not attend.

Other representatives to the Chamber, such as Katherine Miranda, Mauricio Toro, María José Pizarro and León Fredy Muñoz, expressed their annoyance that the aforementioned ministers did not attend the debate.
According to Goebertus, political control over freedom of the press was the first to be done in 25 years; at the case of profiling journalists, the “judicial harassment” was going to be discussed those who make the complaints, and the way in which the “state guideline controls the media.”
“But today, the National Government, by deciding that it does not come to this debate, by deciding that one of the most violent countries but is not interested in giving the debate, closes the possibility of us discussing these substantive issues,” added the congresswoman from opposition.
Due to the absence of the ministers, the same summons asked that the political control that was scheduled for 2:00 in the afternoon be canceled.
