Avianca in 2020

As a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the aviation sector was almost entirely restricted for more than four months.

During the third quarter of the year, with the measures to reactivate the economy, the company transported an average of 187,000 passengers, that is, 97.6% less than that registered in the same period last year.

And is that, By September, Avianca was only able to put 2.1% of all its operating capacity to work, revealing a number of figures that speak for themselves.

Currently it is possible to travel on Avianca, provided that the biosafety protocols required by the National Government and the health authorities are complied with.

“The figures, like those of the industry in general, are the result of a world in pandemic, which has meant months of extremely restricted operation and at the same time less demand. We continue to fly and serve our customers as we continue our Chapter 11 restructuring to emerge as a stronger and more efficient airline, ”said Adrian Neuhauser, CFO of Avianca Holdings.

Recently, the airline confirmed that it will not use the millionaire loan that it requested from the Government in Colombia since it would have found other agents to solve the crisis.
