The Spanish cyclist Mikel Landa (Bahrain-McLaren) tried to gain places in the general in the queen stage of the Tour de France with a control tactic on the part of his team, but the Basque cyclist did not have his best day and collapsed at the end.
“I got deflated in the final part and not only have I failed with the Jumbo-Visma, nor with the rest. I have not had the best day, and today was the day”, Landa commented at the Col de la Loze goal.
Landa was clear that the stage was key, it was his terrain and the right time to play his tricks.
“You had to try with whatever sensation I was having. When Pello and Caruso were shooting I was having a hard time following them, but you also think that others are having a hard time. You had to try.”
From the seventh place in the general classification, 3 minutes and 27 seconds behind the leader Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) and 2 minutes from the third step, Landa already finds it difficult to get on the podium in Paris.
“The podium is difficult, but tomorrow’s stage, after today’s fatigue, can be chaotic. We’ll see what happens. It’s complicated.”
