After confirming his departure from Junior for purely financial issues, Miguel Ángel Borja had everything to return with Palmeiras and thus play the final stages of the Copa Libertadores.
Unfortunately, the ‘Verdao’ does not have in his plans to re-fish the Colombian forward and for that reason he would be sold shortly. Situation that affected him greatly.
In dialogue with the portal ‘Ge’, Borja spoke about what Palmeiras means in his career, the goals he had with the club in the short term and the unease he felt after learning that the coaching staff is not interested.
At first, “the coach called me and told me that he was watching me, that I shouldn’t worry about the criticisms of matches that I had made in the past … The board also called me and told me that if Junior did not reach the Copa Sudamericana final, they would use me ”. With the elimination against Coquimbo Unido, the attacker had everything ready to return, but the situation changed drastically from one moment to the next.
“A Palmeiras lawyer contacted me and said that I would not be registered for the Copa Libertadores, that I would have to appear again in January to do training and decide my future for 2021,” he said.
So the disappointment was total. His idea was to reach the Brazilian team to give a hand in the final stretch of the Cup: “I wanted to help Palmeiras in the Libertadores. Gustavo Gómez even called me and told me that he was going to pick me up at the airport … It is in these moments that I would like to show that I am good for Palmeiras, that I can play against River Plate. I was very motivated. I like to turn things around ”.
Of course, he said he was aware that the excellent results of ‘Verdao’ influenced the decision not to take it into account. “The team is flowing well and taking someone out would be strange, I understand it”, but he also acknowledged that “I don’t understand why they don’t want me. I’m a Palmeiras player, I just had to arrive, put on my shirt and play. I don’t understand this situation ”.
For now, Miguel Ángel Borja must appear on January 10 and wait for the determination of the coaching staff. He is currently on vacation, but he reiterated that “I am available for Palmeiras.” If its continuity does not materialize, “I will ask my representative to see a better option for the future. There is no use making money if you are not satisfied ”.
