A Metrolínea bus that covered route P7, between the Portal del Valle in Piedecuesta and the Provenza station in Bucaramanga, caught fire when it reached the La Españolita station.

The first versions of the witnesses indicate that seconds before arriving at that station, black smoke began to come out from the rear of the vehicle, where the engine is located.

Immediately, the driver decided to evacuate all the passengers who were inside the bus. Likewise, those who were in La Españolita managed to leave on time and no one was injured.

Units of the Fire Department mobilized a fire fighting vehicle to the area and managed to control the flames 20 minutes later. At the moment the effects on the station’s infrastructure are unknown. The bus was completely incinerated.

John Murillo, Metrolínea’s director of operations, said that they are evaluating the information and will issue a statement when they have more information about what happened.
