At dawn this Thursday there was a strong explosion in the neighborhood Robledo – Kennedy, in commune 7, northwest of Medellín.
The final balance, according to the Administrative Department of Risk Management (Dagrd), is nine injured and about 40 houses affected, although at first there were seven people.

After the attention of the Medellín Official Fire Department and the Dagrd Technical Team, the latter recommended the definitive evacuation of three houses adjacent to the affected property, due to the imminent risk of these structures to their inhabitants.
“Around 2:30 am, a very strong explosion is felt. Upon arrival, the quadrant found that a three-story house had collapsed, affecting 39 houses in windows and glass. We managed to remove seven people with minor injuries, “said Colonel Daniel Mazo, operational commander of the Aburrá Valley Police.

Alethia Arango, director of Dagrd explained that there were finally five people who had to be transferred to healthcare centers.

As for the causes of the event, he stated that it is a matter of investigation.
“The structural collapse was generated by an explosion, which is yet to be clarified the causes that gave rise to the incident, we continue to be attentive from the Dagrd in assessing the damage to the surrounding homes,” said Arango
For now, the investigation into the case was assumed by the Metropolitan Police of the Aburrá Valley, through its Anti-Explosive Unit, who attended the place for care after 2:40 am
Currently, the Medellín Mayor’s Office activated the social commission to characterize the affected families.
