Medellín – Caribbean coast road closed due to burning of cargo vehicles

Invías reported that in the early hours of this Wednesday a road that leads from Medellín to the Caribbean coast was closed due to public order problems. The blockade occurred at kilometer 90, at the height of the La Paulina sector, Puerto Valdivia de Valdivia district (limits of the North and Lower Cauca Antioquia).

General Juvenal Díaz, commander of the Army’s Seventh Division, confirmed to BLU Radio that 10 men, who presented themselves as members of the FARC dissidents who commit crimes in that area, they stopped traffic and forced drivers to get out of their vehicles and then burned them.

“They inform me that we already have a lane to enable and give way. In the next few hours the entire road will be clear so that people can continue with their trips,” said the officer.

“These bandits of the dissidents leave at approximately 9:30 at night, stop the vehicles, about eight bandits, the drivers who were there tell us and incinerate the four vehicles,” said General Díaz.

Later, the criminals fled the scene.

In total, four cars were affected: a tractor-trailer and three trucks that have a total loss.

The commander indicated that when the soldiers arrived to avoid the attack, there was an exchange of shots. However, no injured people are reported

The Army and the Police were present in the area to reinforce security and that firefighters and other authorities they managed to remove the burned vehicles and enable the passage
