Medellín-Bogotá road closed due to rains and landslides

To address the situation, hours after the flooding of the creek, that entity proceeded to total closure of the Medellín-Bogotá highway in that area (kilometer 69 +200). However, in the early hours of this Wednesday the passage to a lane was enabled.

In addition to the situation that arose from this growing, at kilometer 58 + 500, Los Molinos sector Along the same road, there were landslides that forced a total closure at that point, Invías added.

Emergency due to rains in Antioquia already leaves one person dead

The Department for the Prevention and Attention of Disasters of Antioquia (Dapard), quoted by Caracol Radio, reported that the department has presented 3 emergencies due to heavy rains that have fallen into last days.

In Mutatá (Urabá region), the rising river Bedó it dragged two people who were on the banks of the river body. One of them sadly passed away, as detailed by the entity cited by the station.

Similarly, in the municipalities of La Pintada and Tarazá there were emergencies that affected citizens. In La Pintada, the rains clogged the sewers and caused the flooding of 8 houses. Meanwhile, in Tarazá a landslide temporarily affected the road that communicates the municipality with the rest of Antioquia, added that radio frequency.

Jaime Gómez, director of the Dapard, urged people to follow several recommendations to protect yourself in this rainy season that will go until mid-December, added that medium.

“Avoid walks in the rivers and bathing in them when there are rains, because this generates sudden floods, because it does not give us the opportunity to get to safety. Another recommendation is that during electrical storms we do not escape next to trees or other objects that can serve as lightning rods ”, recommended the official, in dialogue with Caracol Radio.
