In order to safeguard order during the festive bridge with which the Cartagena independence festivities end, the Mayor’s Office will issue a decree with several restrictions to guarantee security in the city, including the prohibition order at certain times the day.
“It is possible that the restriction on the consumption and sale of alcoholic beverages will be decreed since in the last three weekends in Cartagena, unfortunately we have had acts of intolerance with many deaths and injuries,” said Brigadier General Henry Sanabria Cely, commander of the Cartagena Police.
In this sense, he added that operations will be deployed in different parts of the city in order to guarantee compliance with the decreed norm and biosafety protocols.
“We have ordered 1,200 men from the National Police not only from this operational unit but also reinforcements from the city of Barranquilla who come to guarantee security during these festivities, which are virtual in principle but we know that the neighborhoods will enjoy them. different ways ”, added Sanabria Cely.
In this way, there will be 20 checkpoints located at strategic points in the city and three police caravans integrated with district and national authorities such as Migración Colombia, the Ministry of the Interior and the Environmental Public Establishment (EPA).
In turn, there will be observation points with Gaula personnel to avoid extortion.
“The main recommendation is not to drink alcohol and not encourage fights because unfortunately there have been events to regret in Cartagena,” said the commander.
