Five members of a family, including a minor, were murdered in the place known as La Honda, in the jurisdiction of the municipality of Montecristo, on the border with Santa Rosa del Sur, in southern Bolívar.
According to what was explained by the mayor of Montecristo, Jairo Hernández Buelvas, the massacre was perpetrated in the midst of confrontations between dissidents of the Farc and guerrillas of the Army of National Liberation
Hernández specified that the incident occurred in an area with very difficult access, so he requested the accompaniment of the Army and the Red Cross to get there.
It was learned that the governor of Bolívar, Vicente Antonio Blel Scaff, traveled to Montecristo on Monday morning to preside over a security council in which the participation of national government officials is also expected.
According to versions of the residents of the area, collected by the Montecristo Mayor’s Office, among the dead is the FARC ex-combatant Rosa Mendoza, 25, who was known in the guerrillas as Karen Palmera, mother of a baby, also murdered in the same act.
Mendoza was a founding member of the Asociación de Vivienda Agraria y Ambiental del Sur de Bolívar.
With Rosa Mendoza, there are already 248 ex-combatants of the FARC who have signed the Peace Accords who have been assassinated.
Very regrettable this news! Rosa Amalia Mendoza was murdered along with her little newborn daughter in a massacre in Quebrada Honda, Bolívar. We demand that this indolent Government give guarantees of life to those of us who bet on Peace.
