Armed men arrived at the scene and attacked the house where two women and one man were staying. In this same area, in April, the leader Álvaro Narváez Daza was assassinated along with other members of his family.

Cauca authorities confirmed the murder of two women and a man in the same place where, on April 29, the president of the El Vado Community Action Board, Álvaro Narváez Daza, was assassinated in the district of Mojarras in Mercaderes, along with three from their families.

The mayor of that town, Fernando Díaz Salamanca, explained that the victims were found on Friday night by residents of the area. All three had gunshot wounds.

Unofficially, it was reported that the victims would be Álvaro Narváez Daza’s daughter, son-in-law and sister. Authorities have not confirmed this information.

On April 29, around 8:30, the leader Álvaro Narváez; his wife María Delia Daza Rodríguez; his son Cristian Narváez Daza; and his granddaughter, a minor under 15, were murdered in their humble home located an hour and a half from the town center.

For this crime, authorities managed to capture five people. It was learned that one of them, known as the alias ´René´, escaped from the El Bordo Station, where he was detained.

At that time, the director of the National Police, General Óscar Atehortúa, stated that one of the hypotheses pointed to one of the captured ones having been extorting the leader and the community and that in an act of courage, Narváez Daza, “exposed them, and He asked the citizens not to pay for the extortions. He opposed this criminal activity, and made them visible, so they attacked his life and that of his family, “Atehortúa stressed at the time.

The Institute of Studies for Development and Peace (Indepaz) pointed out that this has completed 70 massacres in the country so far this year.
