Massacre in Buenos Aires, Cauca: they investigate the death of five people – Other Cities – Colombia

At noon this Sunday, the authorities of Buenos Aíres, Cauca, try to reach the village of Munchique after receiving the complaint of the massacre of at least five people.

Francia Márquez, a renowned Cauca leader, was the one who set off the alarms from her Twitter account, asking the Ombudsman’s Office and Governor Elías Larrahondo for attention.

“Apparently in the community of Munchique, in the municipality of Buenos Aires, Cauca, they have just committed a massacre of 5 people”, Marquez pointed out.

The events were allegedly carried out on Sunday afternoon with grenades and rifle shots. The scene of the crime would be a cockpit in this district.

Communication with the area is difficult and the authorities have not confirmed the fact.

EL TIEMPO learned that the mayor of that town, Eduin López, said that the area is being reached to clarify what is happening in that district.

According to Indepaz, if this violent action is confirmed, the crime reported this Sunday, September 20, would be the 60th massacres this year.

Cauca, Indepaz pointed out, is one of the departments most affected by these criminal acts, with nine massacre in 2020.

Violence does not give up in this department. Even the indigenous, Afro and peasant of Cauca have not only had to set up checkpoints so that the coronavirus does not harass their communities, they also remain on guard against crimes and threats to their leaders and community members.

According to social leaders who are in the Munchique sector, the attack would have left several people in serious condition, so the death toll would be even higher.

The town of Munchique, just 10 minutes from the urban area of ​​Buenos Aires, is haunted by the dissident Farc Jaime Martínez.
For this reason, the authorities have not been able to reach the area of ​​the attack, as a special operation is required to get there.
