Fruit street vendors, vendors, merchants, butchers, pedicabs and even sex workers all converge on the sidewalks of this neighborhood in the town of Kennedy. Hence, the national government, through the Minister of Agriculture, has taken the reins of the protocols to avoid contagion.
On the morning of this May 12, Mayor Claudia López was in an emergency meeting with Minister Rodolfo Zea and the Governor of Cundinamarca, Nicolás García, to restrict entry to Corabastos, where there are already 12 confirmed infected. Among the three entities, they will monitor that the occupation of the wholesale plaza, which supplies food to the capital and the department, does not exceed 35%. In addition, they will tighten the protocols for carts full of food from all parts of the country, which arrive from dawn to supply the warehouses.
