A man shot a 20-year-old young man at midnight this Friday, November 13, in the Las Palmas neighborhood, commune 10 of Neiva, Huila. The event occurred when the man was surprised the room of one of the property owner’s daughters.

The local newspaper La Nación reports that It all started when a neighbor alerted the father of the family to the presence of the young man, who was caught late at night in the room of the 14-year-old girl.

Seeing the scene, the man shot Edward Mauricio Rodríguez, who died almost immediately. The media ensures that the victim lived a few houses from the place where he was killed. Neighbors’ versions indicate that he had a secret relationship, despite the fact that it was a minor.

In the house, there appears to be another child under the age of 13, also the defendant’s daughter. The alleged aggressor was immediately captured by local authorities after being alerted to the homicide.

The Police are investigating the case that happened at dawn this Friday, while the aforementioned waits to be processed.

Neither victim nor perpetrator present judicial notes and is waiting to be presented before a judge who will define the security measure.

‘Number of homicides in Colombia’

Colombia, during the first semester of 2020, registered 23.33 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, the lowest homicide rate since 1974, according to the National Police.

The report of the National Police indicates that during the first semester of 2020 there were no homicides in 496 municipalities, equivalent to 45% of the national territory.

The indicators of personal injury and the different types of theft were also significantly reduced in the country, where theft from people fell 36%, from 143,380 cases between January and June 2019 to 95,136 thefts, in the same period of 2020.

Finally, the theft rate per 100,000 inhabitants is the lowest in the last three years.
