Mayor Daniel Quintero has accused the permanent criticism of El Colombiano of his administration as a result of the reduction to the guideline that the Mayor’s Office maintained with the newspaper. He even referred in this trill to the relationship of the Board of Directors of the medium with the rest of the Antioquia business community and the annoyances that exist due to the lawsuit against Hidroituango:
Throughout our government they will see @the Colombian attacking our work for Medellín.
Important to know:
1. Its board of directors is chaired by Conconcreto constructor de Hidroituango and defendant in this process.
2. We lowered the guideline from 3 billion to 100 million. https://t.co/mDOVLbQpPq– Daniel Quintero Calle (@QuinteroCalle) September 13, 2020
Some members of the newsroom have seen it differently and believe that it is a failure of the directives, which has led to the resignation of at least four journalists:
I have an immense affection and gratitude to @the Colombian, but its directors and, above all, those who manage the newsroom, must make a deep reflection on why so many journalists, with immense talent, have made the decision to leave in recent months. 👇

Today was for me, perhaps, the strangest of these convoluted days since March: I just signed my last note as editor of @the Colombian.
I take away the soul and the court of a newsroom -now empty- that was a refuge and a school in hectic days.
