Relatives and friends of Katherine Martínez Sarmiento, 41, fired her this Sunday afternoon at the Los Olivos cemetery, located in Puerto Colombia.

The cashier was killed in the middle of a hitman raid against a former drug lord Libardo Parra inside an Olímpica store in the north of Barranquilla, last Wednesday night.

Martínez’s funeral was delayed due to the delay in the delivery of the body by the National Institute of Legal Medicine.

Last Saturday, Liliana Escalante Sarmiento, Katherine’s older sister, said that three days have passed and Legal Medicine has not yet delivered the body, claiming that “they had many cases.”

“On Friday we came in the afternoon and they told us that they had already stopped working, that in the morning they had delivered four bodies and that of my sister was not there, she had to return first thing in the morning on Saturday to see, but today (Saturday ) I came and they told me I should wait to see if they could deliver it, ”said the woman outside the Legal Medicine headquarters in Barranquilla.

Also the relatives of Martínez Sarmiento, reproached that the body of Libardo Parra, the former drug lord, was handed over to his relatives this Thursday without any setbacks.

Given the facts, Mayor Jaime Pumarejo, pointed out that the crime “cannot go unpunished” and sent a “solidarity hug” to the family of the woman who died while working.

Faced with what happened, the authorities offered $ 10 million for information leading to the capture of the perpetrators of the crime against Katherine and Libardo Parra, the former drug dealer who was the target of the attack in the supermarket.
