A video posted by the young Sebastián Cortés on Facebook caused controversy, as it showed a discussion between him and his family and the employees of the Sabor de mi Negra restaurant, on the road to La Calera, in Bogotá.

According to Cortés in the publication, 25 people went to celebrate a birthday at the premises, last Sunday, December 27.

“When they took the account, they had charged us 500,000 pesos more. We made the claim and they said they had made a mistake with a 0. Then we checked the bill again and they charged us five more dishes, again they were wrong: we ordered 27 beers and they charged us 38, we ordered 9 ice creams and they charged us 14. The initial bill of 1,450,000 went down to 935,000 and the last, in which they charged for beers and ice creams, dropped to 835,000”Cortés recounted on Facebook.

He also said that, after the claim, “the employees became violent, to the point of threatening to bring dogs and call the police.”

(In addition: Claudia López: ‘On January 25 public schools open’).

“The restaurant is served by mostly Venezuelans and that they are foreigners is no excuse to take advantage of people. Now being xenophobic has become the excuse for these people to do whatever they want. Because you can’t tell them anything … Terrible how they make their country and their people look “, Cortés concluded in his publication.

In the clip I know that, when customers are leaving the place, one of the employees screams: “When they come to eat and do not have to pay for a plate greater than 25,000 pesos: pa ‘Soacha”.

Before that a: “Pa ‘where his mother”.

The restaurant responds

EL TIEMPO spoke with Edwin Barriga, the owner of the restaurant and who told his version of what happened.

“The invoice was rectified because I had a zero. Finally, they paid 852,500 pesos, ”he said.

Regarding the extra beers that Cortés said, Barriga stated that “to show that they had consumed more than 30 we showed them the beer basket next to the empty bottles, because we make sure to do it when some of the clients are intoxicated, like some of them “.

“There were more than 30 there. And when they were going to leave, we realized that the missing bottles had been hidden in the sector where the 25 customers were,” he added.

Regarding the ice creams, he added that, “one of the adults gave free rein for the children who were in the meeting to consume whatever they wanted, because ‘they then paid for them’ and, in total, 14 children asked”.

The man also recognized that “Soacha’s comment shouldn’t have been said“, But that spirits were heated” because, in the midst of the protest over the charge, one of the clients involved went into the bathroom and left it dirty with blood, she was probably menstruating. When he left, he said to one of the employees: ‘There he has his little job because that’s what the’ veneca ‘is intended for”.

According to Barriga one of the clients would have left the bathroom dirty on purpose

Barriga insisted that the group of clients had a bad attitude towards employees because of their nationality.

“When they realized that the theme of my restaurant was Colombian-Venezuelan gastronomy and that, therefore, we have Venezuelan employees, they began to have attitudes of xenophobia that became evident when they referred to the waitress, on several occasions, with the word ‘veneca’ ”, he said.

(In other news: Lonely grandfather called the police to accompany him at Christmas). Finally, he noted that he plans to file legal action against Cortés for “affecting the good name of the business,” unless he publicly retracts.
