Junior 3, Pereira 0: he did his duty

He did what he had to do. Junior demonstrated his superiority against a weak Deportivo Pereira, defeated him 3-0, without major inconveniences, and got back into the top eight in the League, this Saturday at the Roberto Meléndez Metropolitan Stadium, with goals from Jhon Pajoy, Fredy Hinestroza and Miguel Borja.

The rojiblancos, who once again showed signs of improvement in their football, imposed the conditions and created the clearest scoring opportunities throughout the game, but presented some deficiencies in the resolution of the plays and experienced some anguish when they barely won 1-0 , especially after a blink of Willer Ditta that could mean the visitor equality.

That action, an unfortunate rejection by Didier Moreno that almost ended in a goal against and a couple of plays in which Sebastián Viera shielded his cabin, were the only approaches by a really light opponent.

Although he was not overbearing and aggressive, Junior managed to dominate and generate many clear scoring options in the first half.

Taking the partnership between Fredy Hinestroza and Gabriel Fuentes as the most sparkling and productive, the rojiblancos approached the rival goal several times with real danger.

The visiting team favored several situations with glaring inaccuracies that put the Sharks at the gates of the goal, but Miguel Borja was not very wise in the initial stage, especially in a gift from goalkeeper Esteban Giraldo, who gave him the ball on a tray in an erratic serve. It would be the prelude to what happened later with the Antioqueño caretaker.

However, the Cordovan gunner failed as a ‘killer’, got entangled with the ball and forgave the goalkeeper.

Didier Moreno had previously smashed the ball on the crossbar and Borja himself had headed a good cross from Fuentes over the crossbar.

Without being dictatorial in command, Junior controlled the game against an opponent who was very intimidating with his offense. Only Wilfrido De La Rosa and Bryan Castrillón promised any threat. The second gave a shock at minute 39 with a surprise shot that demanded Sebastián Viera, who had practically not worked until that moment.

Luis ‘Cariaco’ González and Jhon Pajoy appeared little and Junior’s attack began to cloud and frustrate when Hinestroza, the most pungent and spicy of Junior’s men, launched a cross that found a timely and effortful jump from Pajoy. The north-south southpaw hit the ball with the right side of his head, almost with his ear, and scored the goal that uncorked the scoreboard.

The advantage presaged that a win was coming in the second half. But Borja, in the first minute of the complementary period, again disappointed in his role as gunner.

Junior fell into a pothole in which Ditta and Didier jeopardized the advantage and Viera had to put on the cape a couple of times. With 12 minutes remaining in the game, the goal of tranquility appeared thanks to a collection from the side that Hinestroza kicked directly. The goalkeeper ‘gave him a hand’ and the ball slipped into his goal.

The left-hander hit him well, but without a doubt it was more of the goalkeeper’s mistake than the goal’s virtue. With the calm that the 2-0 offered, the team flowed better offensively and Borja accurately defined the third after a show of generosity from Cetré (Lesson learned?).

The winger received from ‘Cariaco’ and gave him an unbeatable pass-goal by breaking networks, which he only had to touch to score. The 3-0 was more a reflection of the difference between the two teams and gave a better flavor to Junior’s triumph. That was the duty before Pereira, to win in a good way. He complied.
