Molly Levinson, a spokeswoman for the defending World Cup champions, said the plaintiffs will appeal the judge’s ruling. In a statement, they expressed “shocked and disappointed with the decision,” but said they will not give up “our hard work to obtain equal pay.”
“We are confident in our case and we remain firm in our commitment to guarantee that girls and women who practice this sport are not valued as minors solely because of their gender. We will appeal and we will continue forward, ”he added.
The lawsuit pitted the players against the United States Soccer Federation, as members of the national team claimed more than $ 66 million in damages as part of their gender discrimination claim.
