The 6-1 win against Ecuador, on November 17, practically sentenced the departure of the Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz of the position of national selector of Colombia.
That defeat, added to the 0-3 against Uruguay in Barranquilla, four days before, has made Queiroz unsustainable, and has the leaders of the Colombian Football Federation in search of formulas to specify his departure.

From the leadership of the FCF they assure that the economic issue would not be inconvenient. However, Queiroz’s departure would only occur when his replacement has been achieved.
One of the names that have been used for the position is that of José Pékerman, the Argentine coach who led the National Team to the World Cup Brazil 2014, where he made the best performance in his history by reaching the quarterfinals, and Russia 2018, where he was out in eighths.
Pékerman left office after that tournament. Press versions assure that the DT was made an initial offer to return to Colombia and that it was rejected.

EL TIEMPO consulted with sources close to Pékerman and they assured that the information is not real. There has been no contact from the FCF with the Argentine DT and less a formal offer to assume the position.
For now, there is no information from the Federation on any possible candidate for the position.
