José Douer, founder of Patprimo, passed away at the age of 95

The creator of the Colombian brand Patprimo, José Douer, died at the age of 95, in Bogotá.

“Today the clothing and textile manufacturers of the country are in mourning,” wrote the Colombian Chamber of Apparel and Related, on its Twitter account.

In a statement they regretted the death of Douer, who founded Manufacturas Eliot SAS, Channel 1 and the CMI Newscast.

Regarding Patprimo, he recalled that it started with 60 workers from their homes and now has 8,000 throughout the country.

“He was a man who fully believed in the national industry and in the workforce of our country,” says the letter.

The businessman was born in Mexico but lived in Colombia from a young age, entering the manufacturing business at the age of 17.

Douer founded Patprimo in 1957, in Barranquilla, Atlántico, and in the 1960s he went to Bogotá.

It was “a badge for us in the textile-clothing sector, work recognized by the National Government with the Order of Merit in the official category” for its contribution to the growth and development of the national industry, “” added the Colombian Chamber of Apparel and Related.

The vice president, Martha Lucía Ramírez, also regretted Douer’s death on her Twitter account. “Great sorrow for the death of Don Pepe Douer. Great businessman of a family and a Jewish community that have contributed so much to industrialization, growth and employment in Colombia. May God rest his soul next to his beloved Hilda and her family give you strength, “he said.
