Artist Jhon Fitzgerald lifted his hunger strike with his mouth sewn up, after agreeing to an appointment with the government. For now, he will be valued in a hospital.
In a video published by the Bogotá Government Secretariat, the artist said that, with the help of the District, the Attorney General’s Office and the Personería, they were able to contact the government to listen to their requests.
“We made an appointment for September 10 at 10:00 am They are waiting, for health reasons, that I recover and that I will sit down and clarify the points we have,” said Fitzgerald.
He added: “I hope that from now on people don’t have to sew their mouths together to be heard. I hope the District understands us artists and merchants. That the right to life and basic income are things that are important ”.
For its part, the District affirmed in the publication that “a roundtable will begin focused on the economic reactivation of culture and commerce. Life and dialogue first ”.

Recently, Karina Perdomo, a friend of the artist, explained the reasons for the protest: “He sewed up his mouth because he was tired of so much injustice, of the massacres of young people in Colombia. Nothing is said, there is no repair for families. Also, for art and culture ”.
Additionally, Fitzgerald is demanding support for artists and merchants affected by the economic crisis.
