The Colombian international Jefferson Lerma has been accused by the English Federation (FA) of having bitten a rival.

The incident occurred in the defeat of Bournemouth, Lerma’s team, on November 3, when in the 83rd minute, the Colombian midfielder allegedly bit a Sheffield Wednesday rival.

“The midfielder committed an act of violence by biting a Sheffield Wednesday player in the November 3, 2020 Championship game. Jefferson Lerma has until Thursday, December 24 to respond,” the FA said in a statement.

As Bournemouth responded, Lerma denies the accusations and adds that the Colombian has cooperated with the FA in the investigation of the incident.

Although the duration of a possible suspension would not be known, Luis Suárez was given a ten-game suspension after biting Branislav Ivanovic in 2013.
