Javier Ordóñez: the versions about his death – Crimes – Justice

In the middle of the hearing -in disciplinary trial- against the police patrol officers Harby Damián Rodríguez Díaz and Juan Camilo Lloreda Cubillos, several versions have been heard about the events surrounding the death of engineer and law student Javier Ordóñez, on 9 September, in the west of Bogotá.

This Thursday the hearing continues in the fifth session, in the last session, this Wednesday, videos were shown inside the CAI of Villa Luz that show how Ordóñez was dragged in.

On Wednesday, the patrolman Lloreda Cubillos requested the annulment of all the actions, as well as the evidence collected so far. He alluded that he did not have a defense attorney, and that they had not provided him with one ex officio.

In response, the delegate attorney for the Public Force, Herman Rincón, denied the request for annulment. He assured that it was false that he was not given a public defender, because in fact at the first hearing (on Thursday, October 1) he resigned from the assigned lawyer.

Then the statement from the patrolman Rodríguez was heard, as well as from Wilder Salazar, Ordóñez’s friend who was with him on the day of his death and who was also taken to the CAI in Villa Luz. Likewise, the testimony of two other patrolmen was heard.

Was Ordóñez in a fight before he met the police?

In the diligence on Wednesday, patrolman Rodríguez narrated that he was with his partner, patrolman Lloreda, on Avenida Cali with 26, in Bogotá, when they received information about a fight, and they went to the place. There, he said, a group of people was fighting, among them were people identified as fans of Millionaires “that apparently they had had problems with Javier and his companions. “

He assured that they asked people to dissipate, then, “we arrived at 77a with 53 and we approached Javier and Wilder and told them to go home and avoid problems, and they began to insult us, that we left there motherfuckers, toads, thieves, tombos, that was their problem. “

It is in the middle of that discussion in which, he assured, Ordóñez threw himself at the police motorcycle and began to beat Lloreda, and his other companions to go against him (Rodríguez) and that is when it begins to use the taser gun.

For his part, Wilder Salazar, who was with Ordoñez that night, said that he met Javier and another friend, they wanted to have a few drinks and bought a bottle of whiskey and stayed for a while in a park.

Then, they went to Javier’s apartment and there they wanted to drink more, so they went out to buy more liquor, on their way back from the store and when they were just reaching the Ordóñez complex they met Lloreda and Rodríguez, who, according to Salazár, told him: “From this yes it is not saved”, to which Ordóñez replied: “Put the comparison”, and one of the policemen replied: “No, I will not appear.”

After that, Ordóñez’s friend narrated, the police began to attack Ordóñez with the taser and hit him on the ground. At no time does Salazar mention that they had a problem or fight prior to his meeting with the uniformed men.

Were the policemen attacked by Ordóñez?

Patrolman Rodríguez assured that they waited with Lloreda to see if Ordóñez and his companions actually entered their houses and, when they were going to start on the motorcycle, “Javier comes face-to-face with the motorcycle, lunges straight ahead, and hits my partner Juan Camilo Lloreda several times on the face, helmet and head.“.

Javier Ordoñez’s friend, Wilder Salazar, did not refer to this attack.

The versions about the taser

Following his account of Ordoñez’s alleged aggression, Rodríguez said that he stood behind him to stop him, but then Wilder (Salazar) and Juan David – Ordóñez’s companions – went towards him, so, as a deterrent, he made a shot to the ground, meanwhile, Ordóñez kept hitting Lloreda and although the latter drew his taser, he could not contain Ordóñez.

He narrated that “the colleague makes the second impact of the taser on his back, I manage to take him by one arm to be able to reduce it. When we manage to reduce it, the three of us fall to the ground, my radio gets loose and the only thing I can do is put my body to be able to hold his hands while my partner tells him to put his hands behind, to be able to handcuff him “.

He noted that although he did not see how many times Lloreda triggered the taser against Ordóñez, he heard the sound “approximately 3 or 4 times.”

Another is the version about this chapter that Salazar gave. According to him, after the policemen told Ordóñez “You can’t save this from this, there won’t be any comparison”, Lloreda made the first electric discharge from the taser. “Javier falls to the ground, tries to get to the parking lot (of his residential complex), then Damián (Rodríguez) gets out, between the two of them they tear his shirt and start giving him more shocks“, he counted.

At all times, he explained, Ordóñez begged that they not hurt him more, “but the patrol cars never stopped. That lasted between 6 and 7 minutes, a short time later many neighbors came down and all said not to hurt him more, not to attack him more . They were not shocks of one or two seconds, they were six and seven seconds, very long, “he said, adding that the patrols hit Ordóñez in the face, stomach and back and that Lloreda put the taser gun on him. the waist to Ordóñez, “which is where the kidneys are, while the neighbors shouted not to attack him anymore“.
