Follow the parade of referents of English football and Everton speaking wonders of James Rodríguez. Definitely the arrival of the Colombian to the ‘toffee’ and the Premier League, has been a balm for his career and a success in the transfer market for Liverpool’s blue team.
This time the one who praised James was Steven Pienaar, a former South African footballer who was at Everton FC in two periods, 2007-2011 and 2012-2016, and who is loved by the fans, as he played 226 games and scored 24 goals there.
Pienaar assured, in conversation with ‘AS Colombia’, that the consideration of Carlo Ancelotti with James has been fundamental for the performance of the Colombian in the first days of the Premier League. “Ancelotti believes in James Rodríguez, trusts him as a player and as a person. I think if you have a coach who believes in you, that makes it easier ”.
The South African, current Everton ambassador to the world, also considers that “having Yerry Mina as a teammate is also important. That is why James is shining so fast. Besides, all the people on the team make you feel at home and that’s why I think he’s doing so well ”.
Given the regular campaigns of recent years, Pienaar believes that this season could be all the better, because at Everton “we needed a player with leadership and personality, James can fulfill that role very well.”
“I think it was the card that Carlo Ancelotti was missing from the team. He needed a player who could change the game when necessary. It is a dream to have James, as well as Allan ”, added the ex-footballer.
