Jacob Blake, the man who was shot by a police officer on August 23, in the city of Kenosha, and who became one of the most representative faces of the anti-racial marches in the United States, broke his silence.

“Your life, and not just your life, your legs, something you need to move and move on in life, they can take from you like this,” said Blake.

He described what his reality is now, on account of the seven shots he received in the back in front of the gaze of his three children, witnesses to the police abuse that keeps thousands of people in the streets demanding justice for his case.

“Every 24 hours is pain, it is nothing but pain. It hurts to breathe, it hurts to sleep, it hurts to move from side to side, it hurts to eat, ”he said.

Pain that, for him, should become a call for resistance and civil unity around the end of racism and police excesses against the black community: “We can stick together, earn some money, make everything easier for us. our people here ”.

Blake’s message comes in the midst of the tense social situation in cities like Portland, which already celebrates 100 days of uninterrupted protests amid intense encounters with police forces.
