President Iván Duque, in his ‘Prevention and Action’ program, referred to the offer of flights that Avianca began promoting this Thursday, which, according to that airline, they would begin operating from May 11, the date that the National Government stipulated, for the time being, for the termination of the mandatory quarantine that governs the entire country and which began on March 25.
Without mentioning Avianca or any other specifically, Duque was emphatic that “no airline is authorized to sell tickets in Colombia after May 11”.
The President explained that only the National Government can determine when air traffic will resume. “Until the end of the health emergency, which is May 30, there are no international flights in the country”, said.

In this regard, this Thursday night, through its Twitter account, the Civil Aeronautics reported that “the National Government has not defined the date of reactivation of domestic flights and other air operations suspended as a result of the health emergency by covid-19”.
These statements take place after Avianca began promoting seven national routes on Thursday. The airline indicated, through an email, that From May 11 to 31, seven national routes will be available. Similarly, he pointed out that the rates would have only 5 percent of VAT and that the itinerary could be changed without penalty and rate difference.
