This Saturday, President Iván Duque approved the General Budget of the Nation (PGN) for 2021, which has a total amount of $ 313.9 billion, of which $ 58.6 billion will be for investment, the highest figure recorded in the country’s history.

“We came with budgets of 100,000 million pesos on average during the last eight years (for tertiary roads). Only for the 2021 budget we are talking about 650,000 million pesos, without counting the resources that come from the General Royalties System. That is transformative, that is reaching the territory ”, highlighted the President.
Sectors with the largest budget for 2021
– Education will be the sector with the largest budget by 2021. According to the Ministry of Finance, there will be a total of $ 47.3 billion, which means an increase of 7.9% compared to last year.
• The other sector will be health, because according to the project it will have a budget of $ 36.05 billion in 2021, that is, 16.6% more than what was approved in 2020 when $ 30.9 billion was ratified.
• The third sector with the largest budget will be work. For this, the National Government bets for $ 27.2 billion.

• It is noteworthy that in matters of information and communication technologies there was an increase of 51.3%, In line with the Government’s objectives, it will be committed to continuing to promote digitization projects and new technologies.
• In this sector, the expected Budget for 2021 will be $ 2.4 trillion, when in 2020 it was $ 1.6 trillion.

The head of state added that This budget will provide resources for important infrastructure projects in the country, such as the Bogotá Metro, the Metro Ligero de la 80 in Medellín, the San Francisco-Mocoa variant, the works of the Central Cordillera Crossing, the connection of Barranquilla-Cartagena, the Fourth Generation (4G) Mar 1 and Mar 2 road projects, as well as Pacífico 1, 2 and 3.
In addition, he stressed that this is the largest budget for the environment, sports and culture in Colombia.

This law was approved on October 19 by the Congress of the Republic and focuses resources to contribute to the country’s economic growth, support for companies affected by the coronavirus pandemic, poverty reduction and job creation.
