Through a message on his social networks, the President of the Republic Iván Duque announced that this Tuesday he will present to the Senate the three names that he will finalize for the Legislative to elect a magistrate of the Constitutional Court, to replace former magistrate Carlos Bernal Pulido, who resigned from the high court.
Duque’s shortlist is known 4 months after Bernal’s resignation, who at the end of July of this year asked to leave for personal reasons.

In the shortlist that Duque will send to Congress is Paola Meneses, lawyer of the
Javeriana University, with experience in public law and corporate, and specialized in Constitutional Law in Spain.
Meneses was superintendent of the Family Subsidy and is currently the Delegate Prosecutor against Organized Crime.

The president also said that he will Fernando Grillo, lawyer from the Universidad de los Andes, with specializations in Constitutional Law, in Spain, and Family Law, at the Externado University.
Grillo, who has been a public servant for more than 30 years, is the current director of the Administrative Department of Public Function.

The last three will be José María del Castillo, lawyer from the Santo Tomás University, former dean of law at the Sergio Arboleda University and professor of Constitutional Law for more than 30 years.
Castillo has extensive academic experience and is an arbitrator of the Arbitration Center of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, as well as a consultant in Administrative Law.
The shortlist to replace Bernal corresponded to Iván Duque because at the time that former magistrate had been appointed by then-president Juan Manuel Santos.
