The four thieves who laughed and mocked when they were reported by the Police, after being captured when they tried to rob a house in the Normandía neighborhood, in western Bogotá, you will have no problem answering to a judge for your taunts.

In fact, according to a source from the Metropolitan Police, many criminals have had similar attitudes and that has not influenced the process or the conviction.

However, these men will have to answer to justice for the crimes that will be charged. They were captured in flagrante delicto and with knives and firearms in their possession.

According to criminal lawyer Francisco Bernate, “The ridicule has no implication for them”, but they will have to answer for the crimes of attempted aggravated and qualified theft, conspiracy to commit a crime and illegal possession of weapons.

For those crimes, according to the lawyer, they have no way out of imprisonment. “They go to jail more when there are several and they are armed,” explained Bernate, who estimates that these crimes can give them at least 10 years in prison.

Two of those captured have a record for conspiracy to commit a crime and carrying weapons and one for food. The one found inside the vehicle has no prior record.

Colonel Julio Cesar Salgado, Engativá station commander, explained that the four people were captured on Wednesday night, in Rojas avenue on 53rd Street, west of Bogotá, because the community alerted the police to suspicious people in the sector.

When the police arrive at the scene, they find a vehicle and a man inside it. In the car they found a firearm. And near there were three other guys. They wanted to enter a house.

Yesterday, the men were made available to the Prosecutor’s Office and are at the Engativá URI. A source from the Metropolitan Police told this newspaper that the images that have circulated on social networks are not from the Institution.

Colonel Salgado warned that at this time, when people start to leave Bogota on a trip, criminals take the opportunity to steal apartments. The officer asked the community to provide information when they see suspicious people.
