Indigenous Minga will be on national strike and they return to Cauca today, October 21 – Government – Politics

This October 21, the national strike will be held, according to its promoters, for life, peace, democracy and the negotiation of the emergency document. Among the sectors that will be unemployed are the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores (CUT), Fecode, the FARC party, among others.

(In context: These are the routes of the protests in Bogotá)

EL TIEMPO spoke with Hildo Pete, one of the spokesmen for the minga, who pointed out that the minga did not meet with the government in Cauca, as planned, and they do not know if the other scheduled meetings will be held.

Some sectors indicate that today they will not be in the national strike, will they? …

Yes we will. At 9:00 am the chivas go out to accompany the caravan of the national strike and once they deliver the national strike in the Plaza de Bolívar the chivas return to the territory.

(We recommend: What do the colors of the indigenous minga mean?)

What time do you plan to return to Cauca?

At noon.

Today the indigenous guard will also be in charge of the security of the strike?

The guard will be aware, of course.

(We suggest: This is the protocol for public demonstrations and marches)

Do you think that today there will be a dialogue with President Iván Duque?

There has been no message from the Government.

What is the balance of these two days in the capital?

The balance has been positive, everything possible has been done to file a complaint with international organizations. There has been more welcome from international organizations than the presence of national institutions.

Indigenous Minga

Thousands of indigenous people arrived in Bogotá on October 18 and began to mobilize through the city on October 19.

What do you think about the Government having gone to Cauca for the meetings it had already agreed to with you while you were in Bogotá?

The political commission stated that it would not serve the government by sectors, because the southwestern minga has sectors, but we do not arrive by sectors, but rather the minga, so there will be no dialogue with the government in those commissions.

And will the other meetings take place?

So far, we have not considered how far it is feasible and what that implies.

(Don’t be left unread: Fecode talks about entering ‘a more extensive strike’)

You, who are in the advance, will also leave today?

They have told us that we should stay to articulate the national strike and the talks with the leaders of the national strike, so we would be traveling perhaps next week.

Which sectors are you going to talk to?

There is a work agenda with the student movement and with Fecode.
