Indigenous Minga: new clash between Bogotá and the Government – Government – Politics

The logistics of the indigenous minga, which would arrive in Bogotá this Monday, continues to cause controversy in the country. This time, the Secretary of Government of Bogotá, Luis Ernesto Gómez, was commissioned to respond to the Government, which pointed out that there was no agreement between them and Bogotá for the Executive to take over the logistics.

This Thursday, Gómez responded to the director of the Administrative Department of the Presidency, Diego Molano, who pointed out that Mayor Claudia López must take charge of the sanitary control of the members of the indigenous minga.

“If they are not willing to pay for baths, how will they respond to other requests from the indigenous people? They also propose to isolate them in a“ sanitary cordon ”simply because of their ethnic condition. From @Bogota we will guarantee decent conditions to any Colombian who visits their capital,” he trilled the secretary of government of the capital.

He then responded to the Minister of the Interior, Alicia Arango, who trilled that the local authorities have responded to the minga as they passed through her city.

“Given the Minga’s decision to go to Bogotá, we seek to coordinate its reception with the national government. We offered different locations and health brigades. Unfortunately @MinInterior refused to assume any cost despite being its competence according to Decree 2340 of 2015.”

To this the Vice Minister of the Interior, Daniel Palacios, responded. “It is clear that the agreement that they publicly affirmed existed never existed. Decree 2340 of 2015 establishes the responsibility to advise for the formulation of policies, coordinate political dialogue and strive for the conservation of the customs of indigenous peoples,” the official trilled.

In a last trill, this Friday Luis Ernesto Gómez made a harsh statement and asserted that the Government will give a credit of 370 million dollars to Avianca, but not to the indigenous minga.

“The national government resolves in a meeting a loan of 370 million dollars to Avianca but for the request of some bathrooms for the indigenous minga it does not respond. @Bogota is already coordinating their arrival directly with the indigenous authorities and we will receive them with dignity.”

With this last trill, Bogotá apparently will take over the logistics of the indigenous minga. There is still no place established by the Bogotá Mayor’s Office where they will receive the 5,000 indigenous people who arrive in the capital.
