The Regional Indigenous Council of Cauca (CRIC), which groups more than 90% of the indigenous communities of Cauca, would have to return immediately to Cauca.

This was assured to EL TIEMPO by the High Commissioner for Peace, Miguel Ceballos, who assures their representatives -in the Minga that arrived in Bogotá- signed an act in which they promised to attend a series of field visits to advance on a key issue.

“The government keeps its word and we will be fulfilling the indigenous peoples of Cauca, as agreed on October 5, to advance one of the priorities: the social plan of Cauca,” the senior official told EL TIEMPO.

And he added that if the indigenous leaders keep their word, as they expect, they will have to return to Cauca to attend the agreed visits, which have not been canceled.

And Ceballos added: “The government continues to honor its word and in the context of the social plan for Cauca, through the Office of the High Commissioner for Peace, it will begin the tour, visiting the 9 associations that make up the CRI, which represent 127 indigenous peoples with whom the Government will continue to work “,

Hermes Pete, spokesman for the Minga, participated in the meeting with Ceballos and gave the go-ahead to the schedule.

EL TIEMPO had access to the minutes and it states that on Tuesday, October 20, the appointment is in Totoró; two days later, in Páez and on the 23rd, in Popayán.
